EEver wonder how many calories you are downing while at the club? Worried about what those calories might mean during bathing suit season? Nightclub outings, BBQs and pool parties dominate the summer social calendar, which means one thing – lots of drinks. People generally pretend that the calories in a drink don’t count. Well, sorry to say – they do. Knowledge is power so here are 20 popular drinks ranked from most six-pack friendly to most muffin-top friendly:
1: Champagne
The drink of all drinks shows again why it’s just the best. At the club and want to keep your calorie and alcohol intake in check? Slowly sip on a glass of bubbly. Add a strawberry or two in and you are even getting some solid nutrition in.
Calories: 98
Rihanna seems to like Whiskey and she looks pretty good doesn’t she?
Calories: 100
Going to the club and want to keep the calories down? This is your best bet. Just be sure to a) avoid the tonic (pretty much like drinking a Coke) and b) learn the quickest way to the bathroom because you will be going a lot.
Calories: 100
Another waist friendly option although it goes down so smoothly that it’s easy to drink a lot of it.
Calories: 100
Put aside the fact that you are likely going to do something you regret, the most calorie efficient way to get drunk is to take shots of Patron.
Calories: 55 – 175
It is no surprise that there is a big caloric difference between Bud Select 55 and Guinness Stout. Want to have a couple of guilt free drinks by the pool this weekend? You can’t go wrong with one of the low calorie options. Looking for something more complex that you can savor – splurge on the extra calories.
Calories: 120
Not only is it light on the calories, it fills you up. Make it extra spicy and it will take you longer to drink. It also does wonders for a hangover.
Calories: 144
From a pure calorie standpoint you are better off going heavy on the champagne as the OJ packs in the calories.
Calories: 160
Ever see that Seinfeld episode where the frozen yogurt calorie information is wrong and everyone gets fat? Feels like a similar situation here – this has got to be low.
Calories: 181
There is a reason that this Bourbon based drink tastes so good – lots and lots of sugar.
Calories: 186
To all those club kids out there – sub in the sugar-free Red Bull and you will save close to 100 calories. Drink six over the course of the night and that is 600 calories or the equivalent of 2 slices of pizza (which you know you want after a good night at the club).
Calories: 193
This is basically a Cosmopolitan with a cooler name. A guy can order a French Martini and feel like a man. A Cosmo? Not so much.
Calories: 234
The sugary soda is the downfall. It is a great summer drink nonetheless.
Calories: 255
Unless you want to hurt someone when you Twerk, best to avoid this one. If you must then please go the Diet Coke route.
15: Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri
Calories: 280
Definitely a lot of calories but hopefully you will drink it slow. That being said, a scoop of ice cream has about the same number of calories. Which one would you prefer?
Calories: 285
Thinking of getting a piece of pie after dinner? Why do that when you can drink your dessert?
Calories: 168 – 502
Choose carefully when ordering that Margarita. Frozen? Yummy but probably filled with sugar. Want to keep it clean? The easiest way is tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and a bit of agave syrup.
Calories: 430
The Espresso Martini on steroids.
Calories: 644
Damn no wonder they taste so good. The coconut milk packs in the calories. If you must have one, go light on the coconut milk and heavy on the pineapple juice and avoid all pre-made mixes.
20: BBC (Banana Bailey’s Colada)
Calories: 757
Go to Cyril’s in the Hamptons on a Saturday afternoon and these things are everywhere. Fresh bananas, Bailey’s, light rum, banana liqueur, Pina Colada mix and a dark rum floater – what’s not to like? All the figure conscious revelers choose to ignore how fattening these things are and for good reason – they taste amazing.
