Get Low in LOMA With Splash’s Ben Hindman

OOne word: “epic.” As in, “Last night was the most epic night ever.” Elusive reactions like this are the stuff of life. Despite wishful thinking, epic nights don’t just happen organically. They require hard work, planning and disposable income on someone’s part.  In “Old School,” Snoop Dogg didn’t roll up to Mitch’s frat party and start singing “Paper’d Up” out of the kindness of his heart. No, he got paper’d up first. Avoid the hassle of planning and footing the bill for an epically proportioned party.  Enter Splash’s “Mingle All The Way” sweepstakes and take all the credit without having to hang a single disco ball.

Splash, an event planning web application startup with 60K+ users, understands the advantage of getting together.  Ex-Thrillist national events manager turned Splash founder Ben Hindman says, “It’s a more powerful way to do anything; to connect, to create movement, to create energy and have a good time.”

Similar to Paperless Post only newer and much improved, Splash provides a platform for “professional style” event planners as well as average individuals to disseminate visually stunning invites. “Personal brand is very close to corporate brand. People’s identities are valuable to them,” Hindman says in explaining the importance of polished presentation.

A large part of event planning involves creativity and artistry.  Splash endeavors to nurture artistic vision by coming up with “really awesome tools.” Tools like personalized URLs and associated mobile apps, helpful check-in trackers and live feed projectors that allow administrators to pull guests’ content from Twitter and Instagram in real time. This way, says Hindman, hosts won’t be subjected to “creating Picassos with Crayolas.”

Furthermore, whatever the occasion – Bat Mitzvah, bachelor party or bar opening – the memories stay preserved.  They say “All good things must come to an end” but not if Hindman has anything to do with it. Splash supported events remain online for as long as the subscriber sees fit. Attendee videos and photos collected from social media sites stream as play-by-play content on the subscriber-controlled domain.

“A great event lasts forever. We try to extend the lifespan of your event,” he explains. “The post event is as important as the event itself, if not more important. We call it the “post event event” where you’re re-experiencing everything. What’s the point other than the post event?”

The year-and-a-half old company has been selected as a finalist in Take the HELM, a competition created by the New York City Economic Development Corporation to “encourage tech startups… to move their offices to lower Manhattan (“LOMA”).” In a bid to cinch one of four $250,000 grand prizes, Splash will re-launch its brand with the “Mingle All The Way” sweepstakes.

Like Drano to a clogged sink, Hindman plans to pull out all of the stops. With the help of Scratch DJ Academy, American Harvest vodka, Club W, NYFF Events, Tasting Table, KG Fare, PHHHOTO, and more he’s throwing “one lucky New Yorker a holiday party of theirs dreams.” The recipient will be announced November 21st.

So enter here, here, HERE  for your chance to make “epic” happen at an undisclosed LOMA venue replete with celebrity chef, DJ, mixologist, GIF photo booth, enclosed rooftop view and no telling what else. On a date of your choosing along with 100 others of your choosing, choose to let custom event website Splash immortalize you at “the best holiday party ever.”

In order to enter, participants must live or work in New York and have an email address. Face it; if you don’t possess an email address, you don’t deserve to experience epicness.
