YYeah, Skyfall rocked. It rocked because Daniel Craig’s the man. But you are not. But wait – you can be! Enter Jenny Logue, communication skills expert with Working Voices, a consultancy firm with offices in London, New York, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. They teach how to use body language to be all you can be.
Daniel Craig’s James Bond definitely moves in a different way than the taller, skinnier Bonds of old like Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan. What makes his moves so special?
I think all of the Bonds have amazing body language. What makes 007’s body language confident is that he’s very open. He doesn’t close himself off. No fidgeting. It’s authentic!
If a guy wants to walk in the club like they’re James Bond, how does he start?
Wear something that makes you feel confident. How we feel often comes through in our body language. Clothes make the man, right? Wear something that feels good to you.
Also keep your shoulders back and head high. Make eye contact with people. Don’t look down.
Eddie Murphy said for his first movie he felt so nervous about how he looked he almost wasn’t able to come on set. So Eddie acted like Bruce Lee. To him that meant badass. First start with what feels right and then walk that way. Fake it till you make it!
James Bond makes good eye contact, right? How can a guy copy him without becoming a staring evil henchman?
Make sure your eye contact varies. It’s important to be comfortable with yourself. Also the meaning of any communication is the response you get. Be present to other people and you can tell what’s too much or too little.
Pussy Galore’s sitting at the bar. How should a guy approach her?
Again it comes down to – if you’re comfortable, she will be comfortable. Get her talking. Ask lots of open-ended questions. Always be yourself. If she likes you, great. If she doesn’t, move on to Miss Moneypenny.
Okay, she’s actually talking to him. Should he keep the conversation mysterious and comments short?
Nah, be you and be honest. Don’t reveal too much, like the time someone wouldn’t let you sit next to them at lunch in the 5th grade, but reveal enough to make a connection.
Does one have to work out every day to get the vibe Daniel Craig has? Can any guy harness the power of 007?
Anyone can. It takes confidence in being yourself and having fun!
