NNo, there was nothing wrong with spinning Pandora’s Grammy after-party back in February; there was nothing wrong with showing up at NY’s Roseland Ballroom and spinning the official Electric Zoo after-party with Benny Benassi and company in 2012.Nothing wrong with teaming up with Rebecca & Fiona for “Boy” or The Good Natured for “Alive” or Dante for “Burning”; nothing wrong with getting with Cash Cash for “Bullet” and then giving away the download.
There’s nothing wrong with being remixed by the likes of Avicii and Axwell, or with remixing such likeables as Lana Del Rey and Bassment Jaxx. There’s nothing wrong with doing a tribute song to “Lauren Conrad” either. Nothing whatsoever.
So what has gone wrong with Adrian Lux and why’s he so damn happy about it?
Pete Tong, that’s what. See, the BBC1 DJ kingpin premiered the Swedish headspinner’s “Sooner or Later” for the whole wild world to hear coincident with the close of another mad Miami Music Week and, well, the world went wild.

Given the Axwell & Henrik B Remode mix of “Teenage Crime” has been in heavy rotation in ADANAI’s office since its launch, the Adrian Lux interview is a real treat.
It wasn’t the first time Tong used one of Lux’s luscious tracks to officially launch a UK weekend either — he did in ‘09 with “Leave The World Behind,” in 2010 with “Teenage Crime,” and again in 2012 for “Fire.” Kinda makes one think sneaky Pete’s been onto something for quite some time.
If Lux’s recent raging around the Magic City with Audrey Napoleon is any indication, it won’t be the last time Tong tries to tip off the world to what’s wild. It might be the last time he has to though, because “Sooner or Later,” featuring Kaelyn Behr, singes the sky. It also happens to serve as a keen tease to Adrian’s forthcoming Ultra Music EP, “Make Out,” itself a sorta swing for the far beyond.
On that rad note, ADANAI decided to Q with the rousing turntablist so that you get to go along for his rise.ADANAI: If you had to sum up the sound of Adrian Lux in a single sentence, what would it be?
ADRIAN LUX: It sounds like Empire of The Sun and Paul Kalkbrenner had a baby!
How ‘bout if you had to give it a color?
Red-orange
And a temperature?
Summer day warmth!
How do all these factors combine in “Make Out”?
It’s reminiscing about summer vibes, falling in love, making out and things like that. It all fits there!
Where does Lauren Conrad fit into the picture?
She was using my music as her workout music, so I thought I would return the favor.
So you two didn’t actually make out (or did you)?
No, that never happened.
Might that be on your wish list?
Well she is cute. If the vibe was right, for sure.
Speaking of wishes, surely having the legendary Pete Tong debut one of your tracks was a bit of a wish come true, no?
Yes, most definitely! It’s my third Pete Tong premier, but it feels as good every time. In some ways he is the most legit DJ out there, and he definitely has the best radio voice.
Have you and he also personally crossed paths over the years?
Yes, we met at IMS in Ibiza last summer, nice guy.
Wanna name one other DJ you hold in the same high esteem?
I’m a big Nicole Moudaber fan. What an amazing person.
So, when are we gonna experience a night of Adrian Lux, Pete Tong and Nicole Moudaber (and where would you like to see such a thing come off)?
I’m getting there, working a lot this year to raise my profile and my sound. If we can make it happen, I think in Brazil around the World Cup would be sick.
Might we experience a taste of that even bigger Adrian Lux this summer in Vegas?
I play at Surrender and Encore Beach Club. Yes, off course, doing shows there all year ‘round. Best Vegas place.
Any last words you’d like to share about “Make Out”?
I’m hoping people listen to this EP and vibe out and unwind to it; that is the purpose of this music. I wanted to create an escape; something that you would listen to to dream yourself away!
